x stevie's proxy FAQ
i am using tamas as an example for this guide, but these tips could be applied to anything

what is a proxy? a proxy is a service in japan that assists in purchasing items through websites that are typically exclusive to japanese residents. examples are like mercari japan, fril/rakuma, surugaya, etc.

is it free? no. every proxy service has fees per item that they charge you that can range anywhere from 250-500 yen every time you make a purchase. multiple proxy services exist so the fee is different for each one.

how much is shipping? is it going to be expensive? most proxies will not give you the shipping price when you make a purchase, because shipping varies based on weight. to save money on shipping, most proxies will offer cheap/inexpensive options like surface shipping (by boat, slow), or express shipping that is often more expensive (but faster).

what if my tama arrives damaged/broken/not working? it is up to the user, aka YOU, to verify what you're buying. most services will not accept a refund under any circumstance, so buy at your own risk. that being said, most sellers from japan appear to be honest, and from my past experience, most tamas have arrived as described. this of course does not include damage incurred during transit - but that should be worked out with the proxy's customer service itself.
